Colorado Wheat

There are three significant organizations representing Colorado wheat producers: the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers (CAWG); the Colorado Wheat Administrative Committee (CWAC); and the Colorado Wheat Research Foundation (CWRF).

Kansas Wheat Alliance

The Kansas Wheat Alliance is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2007 with the goal of maximizing value for wheat farmers from new wheat varieties developed by Kansas State University and other wheat-breeding programs. The Kansas Wheat Alliance delivers modern genetic technology that is not otherwise showing up in wheat varieties, a real economic benefit to the wheat producers and end-users of the crop.

PlainsGold

Royalties from the sale of PlainsGold seed support the public wheat breeding program at Colorado State University, which further enhances the funding provided by the wheat assessment paid by all Colorado wheat farmers.

CoAgMET

At CoAgMET, we operate a network of agricultural weather stations around the state of Colorado. The data from these stations lets us calculate Evapotranspiration (ET) values to model water use for various crops.

Water Irrigation Scheduler for Efficient Application

Water Irrigation Scheduler for Efficient Application (WISE), is a cloud-based tool for irrigation scheduling. WISE is an ET-based, water balance irrigation scheduling program that features a water management record keeping tool. WISE was initially developed for Colorado, but more locations are being added as additional online weather networks become available.

Web Soil Survey

Web Soil Survey (WSS) provides soil data and information produced by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It is operated by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world. NRCS has soil maps and data available online for more than 95 percent of the nation’s counties.

Soil Health Matrix Decision Tool

The Soil Health Matrix Decision Tool is a free tool that was recently developed by the Soil Health Nexus and a regional advisory team with support from North Central SARE. It is designed as a 101 tool to assess the effects of current and future management practices on soil health. Producers who are looking to implement a new soil health practice on their operation can use this comparative tool to get an overall feel for practices that benefit soil health and which management decisions may be the best fit for their operation.
